This historic film captures the legendary pianist
Artur Rubinstein in rare performance film footage.
The first portion of the program features Rubinstein playing: Spinning Song (Mendelssohn), Liebestraum (Liszt), C# Minor Waltz (Chopin), A Major Polonaise (Chopin).
The next segment of the program takes us into the home of Artur Rubinstein with the master performing: Prelude F# Minor (Chopin), Mazurka C# Minor (Chopin), Scherzo C# Minor (Chopin), Nocturne F# (Chopin), Polonaise A Flat (Chopin).
The concluding portion of the film is the result of LIFE Magazine's famous photographic story on the great soloists Rubinstein, Jasha Heifetz and Gregor Piatigorsky in rehearsal together. It is an intimate study of genius at work.
The trio collaborate on: Trio in B Flat-1st Movement (Schubert), Trio in D Minor-1st, 2nd & 3rd Movement (Mendelssohn).
