Description

Cuba is a small beautiful island in the Caribbean sea and was the former pleasure playground for rich Americans. This all changed when a young lawyer named Fidel Castro denounced the American- backed Cuban dictator, Batista, for violating six articles of the constitution at the Supreme Court.

July 26th, 1953 marked the beginning of the Cuban Revolution. Castro’s goal was to initiate guerrilla warfare in the countryside in order to overthrow Batista and establish a democratic alternative. After a long bloody battle, the dictator was overthrown, the people rejoiced, the revolution had triumphed and the legend of the ‘lider maximo’ was born. This program presents the story of Fidel Castro, the symbol and incarnation of Cuba, from his early days right up through his recent transfer of power to his brother Raul.
