For more than thirty years,
The Voice of Firesone brought the world's greates artists into the homes of music lovers. Now through a special arrangement with New England Conservatory in Boston, Kultur is proud to make these rare telecasts available.
Soprano Renata Tebaldi and tenor Franco Corelli were two of the most exciting singers to emerge from Italy in the period following the Second World War, and each played a major role in defining that period as a "Golden Age."
Tebaldi possessed a voice of angelic beauty, which encompassed the entire dynamic range, from a delicate pianissimo to a brilliantly focused forte. Corelli's voice was freely produced from top to bottom, capable of ringing out in thrilling declamation, as well as caressing a melodic line in rich, warm tone. Both Tebaldi and Corelli exuded great measures of charm, charisma, glamour and refinement, traits which are fully evident in these rare television performances.
